ASCOTT ORCHARD SINGAPORE BRINGS SINGAPORE DESIGN TO INTERNATIONAL STAGE IN THE HEART OF ORCHARD ROAD SHOPPING BELT
To cast the spotlight on Singapore’s buzzing fashion scene, Ascott Orchard Singapore (Ascott Orchard) is launching its first ever Fashion Experience Programme this October. Inspired by the Singapore Tourism Board’s (STB) Passion Made Possible brand, the six-month long Fashion Experience will introduce local designers and makers to Ascott Orchard’s international guests through a series of exclusive workshops and a fashion insiders’ tour from October. Upon their arrival, guests will be greeted with beautiful displays showcasing creations by local designers and makers in the lobby of Ascott Orchard.
“Ascott is a Singapore brand that has grown to become one of the leading international serviced residence operators with presence in over 160 cities and 30 countries. By launching the Fashion Experience programme at our premier serviced residence Ascott Orchard Singapore, we are setting the stage for our local makers and designers to showcase their talents to our international guests. Through a carefully curated tour and a series of workshops, guests will get exclusive insights to the Singapore fashion scene from founders, designers and makers of local brands. This is Singapore’s time to shine,” said Mr Ervin Yeo, Ascott’s Regional General Manager for Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
Ms Ong Huey Hong, Director of Hotels and Sector Manpower, STB, said: “In line with our Passion Made Possible brand, the Fashion Experience Programme at Ascott puts the spotlight on the local design industry, offering hotel guests the chance to discover home-grown designers and realise their own passions through the workshops and tours. We hope that more hotels will be inspired to partner local businesses to organise such events and programmes and give their guests a differentiated experience.”
Local Designers and Makers’ Workshops
Through Ascott Orchard’s inaugural Fashion Experience, guests will be able discover the collections by an inspiring line-up of local fashion designers and makers right at the serviced residence’s lobby. Beyond Ascott Orchard’s premises, guests of the property will be able to take part in exclusive workshops where they will get behind-the-scenes insights into the designers’ crafts, participate in the creative process of making the products and appreciate the story behind each brand. At the end of the workshops, guests will be able to take home their personalised creations as souvenirs.
Local makers and designers in the programme include GINLEE Studio, an independent fashion house that focuses on flattering silhouettes that gives women comfort and uncompromised style; Eden + Elie, a jewellery brand that infuses modern design and Peranakan bead weaving; Liz B, a jeweller that uses gemstones and crystals, experimenting with lines, forms and textures for each design; LINGWU, whose versatile and timeless bags are designed for the independent women on the go; RE:ERTH, a mindful skincare label, proudly designed in Singapore and thoughtfully made in Japan that is suitable for all climates and all skin types; BloomBack which will be hosting a Preserved Flower Arrangement workshop; Hush Candle, which uses soy wax to make beautiful candles; and Maketh Project which offers leather crafting workshops.
